Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States and a lot of people see Black Friday as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
Origin: Apparently, the name originated in Philadelphia because of the heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic the day following Thanksgiving. Later on, retailers in the US explained that they often operated at a financial loss from January to November but on Black Friday is when they actually turn a profit. Some have even reported that Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year.
When do you start your Christmas Shopping? Well, some folks are already finished! Yes, done, wrapped, ready to go. Then you have others who wait and wait and are scrambling around on the night before Christmas – hmm, this sounds like someone I know … me!
Some people wait for the major deal days and one of those days they wait for is BLACK FRIDAY. The only problem is that sometimes, the products are scarce. You might see an offer for 80% off but by the time you get to the product, it is sold out.
In the States, stores open from very early in the morning as early as 4 a.m. and then some started opening at midnight while others started opening the night before (Thanksgiving) and stay opened until the end of day on Friday offering great deals.
Many Canadian stores have followed suit and are having their own Black Friday sales right here in Canada.
We at FranBlass believe that you should enjoy great deals here in Canada too so we will be having a Black Friday Sale on Plus Size Lingerie and Clothing too.
